BREAKING NEWS: Boston United awarded FA Licence for Regional Talent Club
29th April 2016
Boston United Football Club are delighted to announce they have been awarded a Tier 3 licence, one of 34 new licences issued by The FA to run a Regional Talent Club (RTC), delivering coaching and education to the best young female footballers in the country, on a three-year licence.
The purpose of the Regional Talent Club and licence status is to help improve girls football, and bridge the gap between grassroots and elite football. The RTC will replace the current Centre of Excellence and Player Development Centre model to create a pathway for girls’ football, designed to enhance skills and development so elite female players can strive to become part of the FA Girls’ England talent pathway.
“We are extremely pleased The FA have awarded us a licence to run a girl’s regional talent club. The fact that we are the only club in Lincolnshire to be awarded such licence shows our application clearly impressed The FA, along with our strong ability to deliver. We are very committed to the development of girl’s football, and being based in Boston, Lincolnshire will allow us to become a central hub for girls in the wider locality to develop their skills. This new structure introduced by the FA is a recognition of the need to develop the women’s game at all age groups, and we are delighted to be involved in this new initiative to develop an elite England pathway for female players,” said Mike Hardy, CEO of Boston United Football Club.
This recognition by The FA through the award of an RTC means Boston United FC can play an important role in creating a pathway for elite girls’ football development. Boston United Football Club will run teams in four age groups at Under 10s, 12s, 14s and 16s. Two days of trials will be arranged for June.
