We are more than just a college. As well as helping you gain a qualification, Boston United Sports College in Boston, Lincolnshire helps get learners set up ready for their future. You can get real work experience and practical knowledge as well as professional football and sports training.

Our Football, Sports & Education programme for young people aged from 16 to 23 years aims to guide young people on their journey, preparing them for their education and future careers in sport, or in professional football and beyond. We provide support for pupils undertaking our BTEC or Higher National Diploma courses, whilst offering professional training.

Studying a sports course with Boston United Football Club (in partnership with Virtual Learning UK and University Centre of Colchester) will enable you to improve your game and further your prospects – all whilst you obtain a nationally recognised qualification.

EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS

All of our sport courses include Functional skills, and Maths and English GCSEs. Students will also have the opportunity to gain a FA Level One coaching qualification, which includes First Aid and Safe Guarding.

BTEC Sport courses available at Boston United Sports College in Boston, Lincolnshire:

  • One year BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Sport
  • Two year BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (Performance & Excellence)

HND Sport course available at Boston United Sports University in Boston, Lincolnshire:

  • Two year Higher National Diploma (HND) in Sport (Coaching & Sports Development)

FOOTBALL TRAINING FOR MALE AND FEMALE STUDENTS

Male Students:

  • Male learners aged 16 to 19 years will have the opportunity to train and play with our Boston United Development Youth Squads.
  • Male learners aged 18 to 21 years will have the opportunity to join our Under-21s team.
  • Compete in a variety of leagues including the Under 19 National Youth Alliance and Lincolnshire FA Under-21s Development League.
  • Professional football coaching from our qualified Coaches.
  • The overall aim will be to further our players’ education whilst helping them progress on our football pathway, leading from our Development Youth Squads, to our Under 21s and ultimately the First Team.

Female Students:

  • Female students will have the opportunity to train and play with the Boston United RTC Ladies Team.
  • Compete in the Lincolnshire County Women’s League.
  • Professional football coaching from our qualified Coaches.
  • The overall aim will be to further our players’ education, and help them progress in ladies football.

ADDED EXTRAS AND STUDENT BENEFITS

All of our students can take advantage of a diverse enrichment programme including football and sports coaching sessions led by our team of dedicated qualified sports coaches.

Students can also obtain a variety of NGB Sports Coaching Qualifications and can take advantage of our volunteering programme, a great way to improve your personal specification and C.V. ready for employment in the future.

As part of our education programme, students will have the opportunity to receive:

  • Professional football coaching by UEFA/FA qualified coaches
  • Coaching in a variety of sports
  • Opportunity to play competitive football – Boston United Development Squads / Under-21s / Boston United First Team
  • Competitive fixtures in a variety of leagues including Football Conference Youth Alliance and the FA Youth Cup
  • FA football coaching qualifications
  • NGB sports coaching qualifications
  • First Aid and Safe Guarding qualifications
  • Gain volunteering experience with United in the Community

Our sports courses are based at Boston United Football Club at The Jakemans Stadium and at Focus One on Mill Road, and students will have access to:

  • Free table football, pool and table tennis

Throughout the year students can experience a variety of trips and incentives whilst on our sports courses. In previous years students have experienced:

  • Days out to places like Alton Towers
  • Trips to Emirates, Twickenham and Wembley Stadiums and to St Georges Park
  • Paint Balling and Go Karting
  • Trips to play RAF representative teams
  • Camping Trips
  • Trip to Nottingham Trent University
  • Nottingham Forest City Ground tour
  • Nottinghamshire County Cricket Ground (Trent Bridge) tour
  • Trip to an Army Camp
