Fantastic fun in the sun this Easter!

15th April 2015

United in the Community’s Easter Holiday Club multi sports, football and cheerleading fun days have been a massive success, with nearly 330 children taking part in Boston and the surrounding areas, including Sleaford, Skegness and Horncastle.

Local children got the chance to learn new skills from United in the Community’s fully qualified coaches who led the sessions. Children got to play a variety of sports including football, tennis, basketball, cheerleading, cricket and more, whilst meeting new friends in a safe, fun environment. They were also rewarded with certificates, medals and trophies!

Every child who took part received a complementary Junior Ticket to the first team’s last game of the season on 25th April, which should make an interesting day as the first team push for another win to qualify for the playoffs. Two local children, Laife Whiley and Daniels Mailitis also won a signed Boston United shirt in a prize draw picked by first team manager, Dennis Greene.

Nicola Drummond, United Cheer Team coach said, “the cheerleading fun days worked really well, with lots of fun games. Children got to work with three coaches, enabling them to learn as much as possible including Pom Dance, Cheer Stunts and Gymnastic/Jump sections. We had a lovely time with great enthusiasm shown by all those that attended. We have also had a lot of newcomers wanting to join the United Cheer Team on Monday and Wednesday evenings too, which is fantastic!”

Matt Hocking, Football Development Officer, said, “It was fantastic to see so many children take part over the Easter Holiday. We have a great team of experienced coaches and volunteers, and they worked really hard to make sure every session was tailored to suit all age groups and that the children learnt lots of new things whilst having lots of fun.”
