Housebuilder backs U12 Girls team

21 February 2017

One of Boston United Regional Talent Club girls’ teams have hit the back of the net with a new sponsorship deal from a leading housebuilder.

Our Under-12s girls team have secured £750 from Persimmon Homes East Midlands through the builder’s Community Champions initiative.

Boston United is the only club in Lincolnshire to run an elite Girls Regional Talent Club, offering coaching and education to young female footballers in the country and helping them reach their fullest potential.

The RTC bridges the gap between grassroots and elite football, designed to enhance skills and development so elite female players can strive to become part of the FA Girls’ England talent pathway. The club currently runs teams from Under-10s to Under-16s.

The club, affiliated with National League North outfit, is reliant on sponsorship to help towards the cost of kit, equipment and facility hire.

Ceri Jackson, marketing officer at United in the Community, said: “We are thrilled to receive this backing from Persimmon Homes. It will make the girls feel very proud to have the name of a local company on their shirts. It is tough to raise money to run a team, maybe now more so than ever. It is fantastic that a business the size of Persimmon is willing to chip in and help us.”

The donation comes as part of Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions scheme. Each month, the national housebuilder donates up to £2,000 to community groups and good causes in every one its 29 regional business. That’s a total of almost £700,000 a year.

Groups apply for funding by visiting and then it’s down to Persimmon’s managing directors to select their winners.

Simon McDonald, managing director at Persimmon Homes East Midlands, said: “We are proud to make this donation to the Under-12s girls team. Boston United is a great club with a real community focus. It’s our pleasure to be able to help with their fundraising. We receive dozens of Community Champions applications each month so it’s always tough to pick two winners. If you’ve been unsuccessful this month, by all means try again.”

Persimmon Homes East Midlands is currently building good quality, affordable homes in Boston at The Windmills on Boston Road. There are two, three and four bedroom homes available, with prices starting at £131,995.
