Raising money for local charities!
9 March 2022
Santa Claus joined us at The Jakemans Community Stadium to help raise money for two charities at the Boston United home game on 18th December.
We would like to thank our supporters, who helped raise money for Local Hope, a local charity whose primary focus is on championing causes, and the club’s sports charity Boston United Community Foundation.
A total of £200.00 was raised which was split between the two charities, with Local Hope’s donation being used to help support local causes, including:
– Distributing 100 bags of Christmas gifts to old peoples bungalows in Fishtoft
– A visit from Santa to Fishtoft School, with each child receiving a bag of Christmas treats
– Christmas gift bag for 30 people who would have otherwise been on their own on Christmas Day
– Supply care bags to the Chemotherapy Department at Pilgrim Hospital.
Rebecca Barker, general manager said “We are a very community-focused football club, and we are always looking at ways we can work with local charities and community groups in the area, whether this is via our sports charity by offering specific sessions or through the means of donations. We were happy to get involved and help Local Hope, and we are pleased this donation has contributed to some fantastic causes.”
Boston United Community Foundation is the club’s award-winning sports charity, who use the power of sport and offer a vast variety of activities, sessions and groups to engage different people in our local community – from working with local schools, health and wellbeing groups, sports sessions to engage those who have a learning disability or suffer from poor mental health, sports for children and adults including cheer, dance and football, and more!
