JAMIE RAYNOR, first team coach and U23s manager, looks back at recent action involving the Pilgrims.
Good afternoon and welcome to the Jakemans Community Stadium for today’s fixture against Southend United.
It’s been another busy period for the U23s, with the group continuing to work hard and develop through a competitive fixture programme. We have a number of games scheduled over the coming weeks, which will provide further opportunities for the players to test themselves and continue their development as we progress through the season.
We’ve also had some positive movement with players heading out on loan to gain valuable senior football. Striker Daniel Vanderpuye has joined St Ives Town on loan, while Liam Clayton has joined Matlock Town. Both players will benefit from regular competitive football and the experience of playing in a senior environment, and we’ll continue to monitor and support their progress during their loan spells.
These opportunities are an important part of our pathway and provide players with the chance to experience different challenges while continuing their development away from the U23 environment.
On a personal note, I’d also like to take the opportunity to thank everyone connected with Boston United, including the supporters and staff, who has taken the time to pass on their kind wishes and messages of support to my Dad, Paul Raynor, following his recent diagnosis with bowel cancer.
The support and kindness shown to both him and our family has meant a great deal to us, and it really is appreciated. With a busy schedule ahead, there is plenty for the group to look forward to. We’ll continue to work hard to ensure the players are prepared for each challenge and are given the best possible opportunity to progress.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our Academy and U23 programme.
Enjoy today’s game. Up the Pilgrims!
